Four Great Supplements for Joint Pain Relief

A lot of people have been suffering from joint pains irrespective of the occupation and lifestyle. Even though weightlifting strengthens the muscles and ligaments surrounding the joints. However, a lot of exercises causes wear and tear of associated cartilage today we will touch upon a couple of health supplements that can reduce joint pain. Well before we jump into supplementation part let us understand who all are impacted. Joint pains can be inflicted to athletes, bodybuilders, power lifter, outdoor workers, senior people and even overweight individuals. If you are suffering from joint pains there are few supplements that can do a world of good.


  • Glucosamine: Studies show that supplementing glucosamine sulfate will reduce the rate of collagen degradation and symptoms of osteoarthritis researches show that there is a 13% reduction in the pain of the consumption of glucosamine. Recommended dosage is 300 to 500 milligrams three to five times a day.
  • Chondroitin: Chondroitin used in conjunction with glucosamine supplements to combat the symptoms of osteoarthritis. There are some studies that support the benefit of chondroitin but that might be due to statistical error. A recent meta-analysis does not suggest much benefit of this supplement alone or in conjunction with glucosamine.
  • Curcumin: An active ingredient of turmeric. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory and helpful against osteoarthritis. A study conducted by Indian scientists in March 2014 to study the impact of curcumin on knee pains. They took 331 participants who were suffering from osteoarthritis. They were supplemented with 1200 milligrams of ibuprofen or 1500 milligrams of turmeric. After four week period people who use turmeric reported just as much as reduction in the pain and stiffness as those using ibuprofen. Furthermore, curcumin group experience less bloating and stomach ache.
  • Boswellia Serrata: A herb which appears to be quite anti-inflammatory and helpful against osteoarthritis. One product that I trust is nutrilite glucosamine with boswellia serrata which has yielded joint benefits for a lot of my clients who have used this wonderful product although these commonly used supplements may be helpful for joint pain they were primarily studied using people suffering from arthritis with little to no focus on individuals from athletic or laboring group.
